The Parent Teacher Organization is a group of parents and teachers who their volunteer time to help raise money for student activities, curriculum enrichment and Hardy community events. Any parent of a Hardy student can run for an office.

PROCESS: You nominate yourself. Please don't nominate someone else unless you've had a conversation with that person.
HOW TO SUBMIT A NOMINATION: (1) PAPER: Write your name and position on a piece of paper. Include a blurb (1-2 sentences) about why you are running. Put paper in envelope and label "Elections" and drop into the PTO mail box in Hardy's front office.

Not sure about an elected position? Be a room parent! We assign two parents per class once the teacher assignments are announced in August. If you are interested in being a classroom parent for 2017-18 - go the Room Parent page to fill out a form.
Hardy Room Parent (VP) Coordinator Each school year, one parent volunteers to be the Hardy VP Coordinator. The Coordinator is the liaison between the PTO meetings and Class VPs.
Room Parent (Class VP) Each class at Hardy has two parent volunteers called VPs. These room parent vice presidents are vital in finding volunteers for Hardy PTO events and assisting the teacher with any in-class parent involved activities.
Vote at the June PTO meeting: June 6 at 6:30p.
What does a Board member do?
PRESIDENT Role: The president sets the agenda for monthly PTO meetings, helps keep the activities and events on track and is the liaison between the PTO and principal. Time Commitment: 5-10 hours a week. President also attends every PTO meeting (first Tuesday of a month).
TREASURER Role: Manage budget and understand costsBalance checkbook on a weekly basis . Deposit checks into the bank on a weekly basis. Write PTO checks to desired parties on a weekly basis by working hand-in-hand with president. Manage PayPal deposits. Manage Grant Requests with the help of the executive board. Manage teacher supplemental spending. Manage the alternative fundraiser. Deliver accounting summary at monthly PTO meetings. Organize yearly tax information so an accountant can complete taxes. The 2016-17 taxes will be done but preparation 2017-18 is necessary. Time Commitment: 2-10 hours a week
RECORDING SECRETARY Role: Attend each monthly PTO meeting. Record meeting notes. Send notes to web volunteer to post to web. Send President emails to web volunteer to upload to web. Time Commitment: 2-4 hours during the week of PTO meeting. Sometimes 1-2 hours during non-meeting weeks depending on time of year.
EVENT COORDINATOR Role: Track and assist in Hardy PTO events. Manage the Hardy Bulletin board in the school lobby. Help promote events on Hardy social media and backpack mail. Update web volunteer with event dates and alerts or promos to put on Hardy homepage. Time Commitment: This is a new position but guess is 2-4 hours a week.
