Aligning The Internet With Your Family Values
March 11, 2010 at the
Hardy School from 7-9pm, for parents of children, grades pre-school –
12. The Internet, Facebook, cell phones, texting, twittering, all the new communication technology provide us with amazing opportunities for information and connection. They can also be sources of danger and abuse. How are these technologies changing the way our children
socialize and communicate? What impact do they have on our time together
as a family? How do we set rules and guidelines for a resource that our children know more about than we do?
This presentation shows parents how kids are using and abusing communication technology and helps parents understand the social/sexual implications of Internet and cell
phone use. Dr. Maxwell will give
guidelines for safety and ethical behavior that aligns technology use
with family values.

Important Information
Gardening Supplies Needed
From now on the garden committee will be
extremely busy coordinating students planting and activities in the
garden. This will be the first season that our students will have a
chance to experience the new addition to the school. The garden
committee, with the help of the PTO, has purchased high quality seeds
from Johnny Seeds, an employed-owned company specializing in seeds
adaptable to our climate/zone. So we are all set with growing materials.
However, we need some tools and supplies for the garden. For a list of
the gardening supplies needed, please check the garden page at the Hardy
School website under “Classrooms”.
Hallway Painting
The remainder of the ground floor hallway at the
Hardy School will be painted during the end of school vacation week,
April 23rd & 24th. We will need as many parent volunteers as possible to
complete our beautification! If interested in donating your time, please
contact Sonia Lackey at soniahl@rcn.com.
