I hope you had a restful holiday vacation. Now we can truly say that winter is upon us after such a nice long spell of milder weather. As we enter this new year, there are some important dates that you should all be aware of. So please make sure that you check the list of dates/events below.
I would like to thank Kate Leary who responded right away to my call for help with leading the overcrowding issue at the Hardy School. Along with Ginna Reeder, Paulomi Dave-Potter, Jennifer Worden, Marga Varea and Alex Bilsky, Kate is looking into what plans the Thompson School has come up with to deal with overcrowding and what possible solutions look viable for the Hardy School. Here are several links to join the Google group created by this group of Hardy parents to distribute information about this issue as well as the Thompson School website created by their overcrowding committee.
I urge all of you to at least stay informed on this overcrowding issue and if possible to attend some of the public meetings (check below for the upcoming ones, one of which is tonight).
Here is what is happening in our community in the next couple of weeks. Also note the message about the community run coming up in May. Last year, the race reached capacity early on. So please sign up if you would like to run; it benefits our school.
Also, there is a note of thanks from the organization that was collecting gifts. Thank you, Amy Reese, for organizing this event. Hardy donated 120 gifts to 5 families!
Tues. Jan. 5th 7 p.m. School Enrollment Task Force Meeting, Town Hall. Hardy and Thompson parents are gathering at 6:30 p.m.
Thurs. Jan. 7th 7 p.m. Town-wide community meeting on school enrollment challenges, Town Hall. Please come join in the discussion as to what you envision as a remedy to the overcrowding issue.
Tues. Jan. 12th 6:30-8 p.m. PTO meeting. All are welcome.
Fri. Jan. 22nd 6:30 p.m. Hardy Movie Night! Stay tuned for more information. Please contact Ann Chhabra (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Moya Charig (email@example.com) to help out.
Mon. Jan. 25th 8 p.m. Special Town Meeting to address school issues.
I hope that you are all considering some type of involvement in overseeing the future of our schools. If we all give a little, sharing whatever talent we have, we will hopefully have the result we wanted.
Again, wishing you the best for 2016,
Cédrine Bell (PTO President)

Note of Thanks for Gifts to Children in Need
Hi Everyone - HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
Well - the gifts have all been delivered.
The generosity that you all represented this year was just overwhelming! You really were over the top!
Together we helped one hundred twenty-two families, two hundred thirty-two children - and gave them approximately 2300 gifts! That's an amazing effort!
As always a very special thank you to the coordinators for the various giving groups. It's a big task to arrange for all the gift assignments, get them collated, and then bagged up and delivered in the time frame that we ask. We're so appreciative of your special efforts!
Two special vignettes from Holiday Help 2015 I want to pass on to you:
1) We welcomed the Pierce School to our giving group this year. One parent from the Pierce School emailed back to me saying that he had grown up in a welfare family, he knew what it was like to watch a single-parent mom struggle to get gifts for their Christmas - and he offered to help in any extra way we needed.
2) A mom who has received Holiday Help gifts for a few years told us she just got remarried this year and would like to switch to the "giving side" of our program next year. She's so grateful for the help she's received and so wants to help others not that her circumstances have changed.
Thanks again for all you all do! Happy Christmas, Hanukah, and Happy New Year! Please pass this thank you on to all your crew!
